Publishing Date Approaching!

Sooo… in case you are wondering what I have been up to lately: Below is the cover concept for the newest book I have been co-writing. It’s a BUSINESS BIOGRAPHY (if that’s not a genre, it really should be!!) about the very first BAVARIAN BEERHOUSE and restaurant in the UK.

PROST! – The Bavarian Beerhouse Story

A BUSINESS BIOGRAPHY OF UK’s FIRST OOMPAH-PAH RESTAURANT

by Sabine & Rene von Reth (…yes, and ME!!)

I do not even drink beer, but it was fascination to learn about how these two German entrepreneurs (who both came from completely different lines of work) turned their dream into a very successful reality and pioneered their concept in a new country!

Whether you like Bavarian beer or not – this is (if I dare say so myself) an interesting and motivational read, and full to the brim with useful information for anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming part of the hospitality industry – or who already does own a pub, bar or restaurant and feels the concept might need some overhauling.

Available THIS SUMMER! Stay tuned!

You can check out the Bavarian Beerhouse Worldwide Facebook page here – and if you are not already doing so, have a look-see and follow my own Facebook page here for quick updates on what’s going on!

(And now it’s high time to update my current Kindle Vella novels and non-fiction book(s) Are you already reading them?? If you are based in the US (sorry, not accessible internationally yet), you can find them thattaway…)

I know I have kept you waiting, especially you readers of my serial Kindle Vellas…

…but I’m back at work now.

So, please bear with me while I am

1. catching my breath

2. catching up

The Bandstand

Bandstand

On a beautiful day they would walk in the park
Where the music was playing until after dark
And the people would come there to laugh and to dance
And the violins would play there for fun and romance.

A couple is walking and crossing the lawn
And he’s taking her hand for a dance in the dawn.
There is nobody else and no orchestra there
But he’s humming a tune, and it’s filling the air.

Now the days have gone by, and the times, they have changed.
There are lovely people, but to me, they are strange.
They are happy and lively, enjoying the sun.
And the bandstand’s still there, there is laughter and fun…

Introducing: “Kat and the Million” – My New Serial Novel on Kindle Vella

Kat and the Million – Original Blurb

“Kat has never been rich but has so far always done okay. Fed up with her boyfriend and his “Keeping-up-with-the-Joneses” lifestyle, she moves back to her hometown to start a new life for herself. When the COVID pandemic hits, her novel becomes a bestseller, and she even successfully sells the film rights, things start to change. What is she going to do with all the money? Will life now become much easier – or even more complicated? One way or the other, it is certainly becoming more interesting!”

(amazon.com)

What’s it all about?

True, as far as book sales are concerned, the so-called “Millionaire Romances” are more and more giving way to “Billionaire Romances.” For so many people, a million dollars does not seem all that impressive and exciting anymore. Can you believe that, given the fact that having such an amount of money is something, the majority of people can only dream of?

  • What does it even mean these days: being “rich?”
  • What kind of “good life” could you lead with a solid million in your bank account?
  • Would you feel happy (or happier)?
  • Would you feel secure?
  • What kind of cool stuff would you buy?
  • Would you (still) be working?
  • How would you make sure the money does not run through your fingers?
  • How much good would you do with your money?
  • And what about your love life? Would that change?

A bit of chick-lit, a bit of romance, a bit of lifestyle, mixed with questions of social and ecological responsibility… and a bit of something more. That’s the idea behind “Kat and the Million.”

“No Easy Way Out” – My Personal Sherlock Holmes Soundtrack

Do you sometimes have a “soundtrack” in your mind when reading a book? I do!

As far as my Kindle Vella novel “A Circle Closes” and the whole Sherlock Holmes “universe” is concerned, this song certainly fits.

When Sherlock Holmes faked his death at the Reichenbach Falls, he had very important reasons to do so. Eventually, he finds himself in the situation to explain them to Watson, to convince his friend that there really had been “no easy way out” for him.

How does this fit in with my story of “A Circle Closes”, given that the story takes place during the hiatus, i.e. between “The Final Problem” (Reichenbach Falls) and “Empty House” (Return to London)?

Well, read my book (currently only available in the US, sorry) and find out, haha!!

The first three chapters are available for FREE!

But seriously: There is so much emotional conflict surrounding the whole story arc of Sherlock Holmes’ “death” and return, and that’s what this video is about, and you will find a lot of it in “A Circle Closes” as well.

Why don’t you head over to Amazon Vella and find out more!?

Introducing: “A Circle Closes” – A Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler Story

Book Cover - Susanne Wagner A Circle Closes" - A Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler Story

Now a serial novel on Kindle Vella! – Read the first 3 Chapters for FREE!

What became of Irene Adler, Sherlock Holmes’ famous adversary from the short story “A Scandal in Bohemia” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?

According to Dr. Watson, his friend seemed to be quite taken with her:

Quote from “A Scandal in Bohemia” [SCAN]

To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. (…)

Despite this last sentence, many fans enjoy the theory of a secret love story between Holmes and Adler – just think about Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” movies, to name one of the most prominent examples.

Did they ever meet again?

Personally, I have never really seen them as a romantic couple. Still, Irene Adler has always been a really fascinating character to me, and I have often wondered about some kind of potential unfinished business regarding the Holmes/Adler relationship.

Officially, they never met again after SCAN.

However, there is this intriguing period of three years, during which Sherlock Holmes was officially presumed dead: the famous “Hiatus.”

A Circle Closes… in Montpellier

When Holmes returns from the dead (in a manner of speaking), he mentions a visit to Montpellier during his hiatus. So… my imagination combined the hiatus… and Montpellier… Irene Adler… and Sherlock Holmes, and a circle coming to a close in the South of France.
