Introducing: “Kat and the Million” – My New Serial Novel on Kindle Vella

Kat and the Million – Original Blurb

“Kat has never been rich but has so far always done okay. Fed up with her boyfriend and his “Keeping-up-with-the-Joneses” lifestyle, she moves back to her hometown to start a new life for herself. When the COVID pandemic hits, her novel becomes a bestseller, and she even successfully sells the film rights, things start to change. What is she going to do with all the money? Will life now become much easier – or even more complicated? One way or the other, it is certainly becoming more interesting!”

(amazon.com)

What’s it all about?

True, as far as book sales are concerned, the so-called “Millionaire Romances” are more and more giving way to “Billionaire Romances.” For so many people, a million dollars does not seem all that impressive and exciting anymore. Can you believe that, given the fact that having such an amount of money is something, the majority of people can only dream of?

  • What does it even mean these days: being “rich?”
  • What kind of “good life” could you lead with a solid million in your bank account?
  • Would you feel happy (or happier)?
  • Would you feel secure?
  • What kind of cool stuff would you buy?
  • Would you (still) be working?
  • How would you make sure the money does not run through your fingers?
  • How much good would you do with your money?
  • And what about your love life? Would that change?

A bit of chick-lit, a bit of romance, a bit of lifestyle, mixed with questions of social and ecological responsibility… and a bit of something more. That’s the idea behind “Kat and the Million.”

“No Easy Way Out” – My Personal Sherlock Holmes Soundtrack

Do you sometimes have a “soundtrack” in your mind when reading a book? I do!

As far as my Kindle Vella novel “A Circle Closes” and the whole Sherlock Holmes “universe” is concerned, this song certainly fits.

When Sherlock Holmes faked his death at the Reichenbach Falls, he had very important reasons to do so. Eventually, he finds himself in the situation to explain them to Watson, to convince his friend that there really had been “no easy way out” for him.

How does this fit in with my story of “A Circle Closes”, given that the story takes place during the hiatus, i.e. between “The Final Problem” (Reichenbach Falls) and “Empty House” (Return to London)?

Well, read my book (currently only available in the US, sorry) and find out, haha!!

The first three chapters are available for FREE!

But seriously: There is so much emotional conflict surrounding the whole story arc of Sherlock Holmes’ “death” and return, and that’s what this video is about, and you will find a lot of it in “A Circle Closes” as well.

Why don’t you head over to Amazon Vella and find out more!?

What became of Irene Adler, Sherlock Holmes’ famous adversary from the short story “A Scandal in Bohemia” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?

According to Dr. Watson, his friend seemed to be quite taken with her:

Quote from “A Scandal in Bohemia” [SCAN]

To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. (…)

Despite this last sentence, many fans enjoy the theory of a secret love story between Holmes and Adler – just think about Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” movies, to name one of the most prominent examples.

Did they ever meet again?

Personally, I have never really seen them as a romantic couple. Still, Irene Adler has always been a really fascinating character to me, and I have often wondered about some kind of potential unfinished business regarding the Holmes/Adler relationship.

Officially, they never met again after SCAN.

However, there is this intriguing period of three years, during which Sherlock Holmes was officially presumed dead: the famous “Hiatus.”

A Circle Closes… in Montpellier

When Holmes returns from the dead (in a manner of speaking), he mentions a visit to Montpellier during his hiatus. So… my imagination combined the hiatus… and Montpellier… Irene Adler… and Sherlock Holmes, and a circle coming to a close in the South of France.
